Why it’s special: set just outside Montalcino in the UNESCO-listed Val d’Orcia, Antico Convento i Cappuccini is a 13th-century Capuchin friary turned private estate, with cloisters, a petite chapel, gardens and a pool tucked among olives and woodland. It feels secluded and deeply Tuscan, with centuries of history softened by warm, contemporary hospitality across a roughly 20-hectare property.
Ideal for: an intimate, multi-day destination wedding with a slow, house-party rhythm. The venue is designed for celebrations of about 30–80 and allows up to 100 guests; May to October is the preferred season. Budgets for 50 guests typically range around €30–50k depending on suppliers and styling, and exclusive use ensures you’ll have the entire convent to yourselves
Wedding experience: imagine a symbolic ceremony by the private chapel, golden-hour spritz by the pool and a refined dinner under the stars. Music can run late, with the after-party moving into the cloister to keep the ambience intimate and sound contained. Civil or religious rites can be arranged in nearby town halls and churches, while on-site the flow between cloister, courtyard and lawns makes planning effortless.
Good to know: on-site accommodation sleeps up to 22 across the main villa, two apartments and a detached suite; a marquee is recommended as plan B in the shoulder months. Fireworks aren’t permitted due to the woodland setting. Booking a year ahead is advised, especially for peak dates.
Accommodation: Sleeps 26 people in the main villa (16 guests), 1 double suite, 2 apartments
Max wedding guests: Up to 150 guests
